Brand new baby blog!
Well, it's about time I started one of these! Even if it is never read, at least I have somewhere to talk about things, and I guess that's the point.
My name is Kerri. I am 28 and I live in Toronto, Ontario (Canada) with my 4 year old son, my husband Matt and our pug, George. I have recently left my job as a preschool teacher when we moved here from New Brunswick. My husband is a copywriter for an ad agency here in Toronto and recently had his first television commercial! Caden has just started kindergarten and is LOVING his class, even though it is only half days here as opposed to the full days he had while in preschool.
I have an obsession with all things historical, and if I could have any job in the world, it would be a "historical reenactor" basically, the people you see in full costume at historical sites. That is my dream job. Even for the small amount of pay as that would be, I would at least love going to work everyday!
I also like to do as many 'old lady' crafts as I can teach myself. First it was embroidery, then I got addicted to blackwork embroidery. Knitting came next, then sewing. I am now working on a paper pieced traditional "grandmother's flower garden" quilt made with reproduction 1930's feedsack fabrics. I will post more about that at a later time- with pictures!
In fitting of my love of historical things, I LOVE going to antique shops and even my engagement ring is an antique (a moonstone with pearls on either side, platinum band with small diamonds- it is dated 1895-1905). I was definitely born in the wrong era!
I love to bake and I love to bake for others as well. I have recently considered taking a pastry arts course in the hopes that I could one day open my own small bakery/coffee shop. not sure about that though.
I was in nursing school and would love to go back, but I had some major issues with anxiety and depression and my social anxiety is ultimately what caused me to need to drop out. I haven't yet gotten the courage to go back. I was about to apply for this coming January, but I missed the cut off! That's when I considered the baking classes, but I still think nursing is the way to go-- if I can just manage to get through the training.
There is a lot more about me... but I guess I can get to all that later! =)
